Salt & Pepper hair, brown eyes, 6', could stand to lose weight. Very loving and compassionate. Fiercely loyal to friends--you either get all of me or none of me. I generally love people and try very hard to be non-judgmental.
On Gather, I'm Looking For ...:

People who are in similar situations as I am, and to discuss some of the things that cause me anxiety. I tend to immediately go to "worst scenario" when a crisis arises, and sometimes that keeps me from doing what I know must be done.

Favorite Music, Artists, Genres:

I have eclectic tastes and like just about everything except rap and hard core heavy metal.
Favorite Books, Writers, Genres:

I like a good mystery, biographies, thrillers, etc. I am not bragging, but I have read the Bible cover to cover 7 times---and still have much to learn from it., The only one who comes to mind is Charles Dickens. I also like some of Robert Frost's poetry. (Is my age showing? :-) )
Favorite Movies, Actors, Genres:

Patton, is my favorite movie of all time. Other than that, I like anything to do with Superman; I really liked--if one can say that--Passion of the Christ. If I listed them all, I would run out of space and you would get bored.
Favorite TV Shows, Actors:

I don't have any particular one. I mainly watch with my wife, so she usually chooses. I also watch sometimes with my grandchildren--two teenage boys and two elementary school age girls.
Favorite Places:

Home, Branson, Berchtesgaden, Germany, b/c it is so beautiful, parts of Tennessee.
Interests and Activities:

My computer, my grandchildren, reading, keeping up with the news, some sports. Although I don't keep up with Formula One racing, I make it a point to watch the Indy 500 every year., Don't really have any, other than my computer and reading. Oh--we travel as much as we can. Have a "vacation ownership, " otherwise known as a timeshare, except that with ours, one can go just about anywhere in the world.

Thanks for responding, Larry. Your background as a son of a pastor is very different from to what I refer as specifically Catholic parochial education at the grade school level affecting young males negatively.

Yes, you are correct that there might be a justification component, but if you read what I said to Ann here in the 2nd paragraph of the 10/18 comment @ 1:59PM, you might grasp more of what I mean.

I have observed in many cases that these boys more often become atheists at some point in their lives much more than girls and much more than I have noted from any other primary educational group. It could just be observation from my own experience, but like this person you spoke of, and others I've read about on the Internet, there is more to it, I think, and I have reasons for believing it is so too.

I happened to see your ping on John Knight's profile page. It's not at all far-fetched that someone, especially a boy, could have formed atheistic beliefs as a result of parochial schooling. I've seen evidence of this, and I believe very strongly that many male atheists were rooted in parochial schools. I had a very positive experience, but that's not true for everyone.

I know about Writer's Digest online. I am a member of their community. But, they always charge way too much to enter. It's at least $20 per manuscript.

Sometimes when you're scared, no amount of karate or other techniques can help you..
Besides in the limited space in the story, I didn't mention that this rapist followed these women. He spied on them, finding out anything he could against them.
He knew, she knew karate and learned how to use it against her.
I believe he even became proficient at the art himself, so she really had no defenses against him.
